We stayed at the Pop last summer and are staying there again in 2 weeks. We loved it! The cast members were amazing. They included my children in parades and dancing, and one sat patiently while I gave my girls the “if you get lost” speech so they could look at her name tag and she could answer their questions. We absolutely love it there! I’ve stayed in many resorts at the World, but this is by far my favorite to stay with my young children! As they get older I may want a resort with a bigger room or a pool with a slide, but for now Pop is the perfect vacation resort for a family with small children!

We will be staying at Pop Century in November 2012, do you have a problem with bed bugs at Pop Century? I don’t want a problem with them during our visit. Thank you, waiting for an answer.

    Date of visit: January 2010
We stayed one night prior to checking in at Animal Kingdom Villas.

Pop is our favorite value. We love just wandering around looking at things and taking photos. We like to be on the back side by the lake and have enjoyed bunnies and ducks right outside our room. As well I feel the food court at Pop is one of the best on property, so that’s always a bonus!

Tip: see if you can find the sign for the year you were born to see what was happening pop culture wise along the lake side walk

Pop Century has an awesome food court! It’s my favorite out of all of the value resorts. I really like walking around the resort and checking out the different icons.

This is a great choice for a Value resort. The rooms are clean although on the small side. The rooms are the same size as all the value resorts. There are a few pools around the resort so that makes swimming easy. This is by far the best food court around! I think that this is a great choice for a value hotel.

We love this resort! My favorite is the tye dye cheesecake! It is awesome. I love walking thru the lobby and looking at alot of old things I use to have! It is a fun resort and the kids love the Hippy Dipy pool! It is just a fun resort to stay at!

Pop Century is our favorite resort! When I offered to upgrade us to celebrate my daughter’s high school graduation, both of my girls insisted that it wouldn’t be Disney without staying at Pop!

The theming, the food court, the pools – it’s all great!

Our favorites – tye-dye cheesecake (YUM!) and requesting a 4th floor room with a view of the Epcot fireworks. Any night that we are back that early, we just step outside our door and watch the fireworks!

We stayed at the Pop Century for our last 2 visits. The rooms are an adequate size for a value resort. We like that the bathroom is split with the sink outside as it allows 2 people to get ready at the same time. We liked that the buses only service POP and we never seemed to wait too long at the hotel. Sometimes the bus dropped you off pretty far away from the gate which made for a long walk back to the bus at the end of the day. The pool is big and accommodates a lot of people and kids without feeling like you are on top of people. The gift shop is really nice, too!

My family of four (mom, dad, son age 8 and daughter age 2 in pack and play) stayed at POP on our most recent trip to WDW (Feb. 2011). I was really concerned that I would not like it having stayed at moderates most of the time and even deluxe the past two times. However, I was very pleasantly surprised with POP. The bus service is by far the BEST anywhere I have stayed at WDW before. The room was clean and newly refurbished. I liked that they added the curtain between the bath/dressing area and sleep area like they have at Port Orleans. I didn’t feel the rooms were any more cramped than the moderates for our size family. I thought the food court was good. We ate there 3 nights for dinner. We were in the 90s building and it was a very short walk to the bus stop. There was a lot of noise from foot traffic returning from the parks late at night since we were ground floor, but next time I would just request an upper floor room. Given the choice between POP and the moderates, I think POP is the best value for the money and has more to offer in terms of food court selections and efficient transportation. My husband and kids think it is the most “Disney” of any resort on property. They love the big icons. We are already planning our next stay at POP!

On our last family trip we stayed at POP for the first time and loved it. Previously we had stayed at All-Star Movies and Music and while both were fun, we felt that POP was just a bit better. We had a corner room in the 70’s complex right on the lake and at night, you could see some of the park fireworks off in the distance. Transportation for this resort was awesome – much better than the All-Star ones. We never had a wait. The rooms were standard but we were only there to sleep so as long as they were clean, we were fine! All around, POP is our choice in value resorts!

Value resorts are our hotel of choice since they allow us to stay twice as long. Pop Century is, hands-down, my favorite of the values. The themeing is so much fun. I love to just wander the resort and relive the past. The rooms are great for a small family – we usually travel with 2-3 and the buses fit our needs perfectly. The food court offers so many great choices. Definitely a great choice for those on a budget.

When we visit the world we’d rather stay as long as we can so we go with Value and our favorite value hands down is Pop Century. I love that the theming makes me feel like I’ve never left the parks at the end of the day. It’s big, but I never feel like I have to walk forever and the amazing food court has things you’ll get nowhere else. The room remodels are well done and I appreciate that we don’t have to stop at other resorts when riding the buses. It’s all I can ask for in a Value and for our family we don’t need to pay for more.

I did not like this resort AT ALL. The service was HORRIBLE and also the food was horrible as well. I have been to Disneyworld 12 times and always have stayed at a Disney Resort and this stay was my daughter’s 1st and it was the worst ever. I will never again stay at Pop Century Resort! The rooms were dirty, good thing I went prepared with CLOROX WIPES!

Rate Paid During Your Stay: We paid rack rate during our stay which was during Value Season and took advantage of Free Dining that was offered.

    Room Sleeps : 4

Don’t Miss: We just loved this resort but my “don’t miss” happens to be a food item:) I absolutely LOVED the Turkey Ciabatta sandwich and homemade potato chips that are served. I enjoyed it 3 times during our 8 day stay. It’s a definite “Don’t Miss!”

Room Location Suggestion: We stayed in the 90s building. We simply had to walk across the parking lot to be at the bus stop–quite convenient. We also enjoyed being on the ground floor.

The Mouse For Less Tip: For a snack credit you can get an icecream sundae with all types of toppings:) I also saw people who would choose icecream as their dessert–they would get their receipt stamped, enjoy their meal, and then return to the icecream counter for their huge sundae.

Comments: I know I didn’t rate the room size, theming and amenities very highly and that’s because I know what is offered at the other, more pricey hotels. HOWEVER, we absolutely LOVED POP Century and are returning there this December 2010. It was so clean and the grounds were nicely kept. We loved the pool and the food in the Food Court. You really can’t beat it for the value!

Don’t Miss: Walk around the resort and check out all the different decades.

    Room Location Suggestion: 80’s

The Mouse For Less Tip: We were in the back near the parking lot so next time I would pay the extra for a prefered room.

Comments: This is a very busy resort so if your looking for something quite with out kids this isn’t the one for you. If you like busy and people everywhere all the time this is the one for you. The buses weren’t bad either. This is my second stay there and I will stay there over the All Stars.

Rate Paid During Your Stay: Total for the Disney Vacation was $1116. We had a standard room in the 50’s section. We booked through MagicFor Less (shout out to Emily!!! You’re terrific!!) We had 6 day parkhoppers & free dining.

Room Sleeps : We were 2 – but, could have had 4.

Don’t Miss: Hourglass Lake…we saw the biggest turtles swimming. Guys were fishing and the turtles kept trying to steal the bait!!

Room Location Suggestion: As stated we were in the 50’s,room number: 5112. It was in the back, on the corner, right by the staircase. Not a bad walk at all to the central Hall.

The Mouse For Less Tip: The Resort Mugs really do pay for themselves after just a couple of days.

Comments: I really like this resort. The staff is so helpful & friendly. They even surprised us with cards & balloons on our second day there. We werecelebrating our ‘special’ birthdays..60th & 40th. I had a problem with a chargethat I wasn’t supposed to have, and it was taken care of within 5 minutes…Love the ‘no-hassle’ stuff!! The Icons are always a treat for my son, too!If anyone has any questions…feel free to ask on the list or privately…I’ll be glad to answer anything I can. We really did have a great time!

I have been to Disney 13 times and this was a bit disappointing because of the buses——-leer

Don’t Miss: The different “era” pictures/collages in the lobby – 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s- it was a fun nostalgic look back. Also the 6PM “Hustle” in the food court was quite fun!

Room Location Suggestion: We were in the 90’s building and it was farthest from the food court and buses, but it was worth the walk for the QUIET. Rooms were extremely quiet. We chose an upper level room so we could avoid foot traffic in front of our door. We were facing the parking lot and avoided any pool noise. Very quiet location – would recommend if you don’t mind a 5 -7 minute walk for food and buses.

The Mouse For Less Tip: Get the refillable mugs for a definite savings on sodas and coffee.

Comments: There were only 2 of us, so we thought the room was plenty big, but I think it would be cramped for 4 adults. Resort was QUIET and CLEAN, ground were very well maintained. oversize theming objects were fun. Rooms were very quiet – only time I realized there were others next door is when we heard an occasional toilet flush, otherwise no noise from neighboring rooms. Pool area was very roomy. Food court was crowded and food only mediocre, but ok for breakfast and snacks. Check in and out was VERY efficient and so was airline resort check in. We checked our bags in at Pop Century and didn’t have to worry about them againm until we arrived home in Philly. Also we were there during Tropical Storm Fay and staff did a great job keeping guests informed about the storm and any operations changes. Mousekeeping staff seemed a bit unfriendly and didn’t seem to do the extras like towel animals which we experienced on other trips. All in all I’d recommend this resort for a smaller family or for adults with small children. For the money we paid and the amount of time we actually sepnt in-room, it was well worth it. It does not have all the extras and flash that the deluxe or even moderates do, but it was comfortable, clean and lots of fun!

Don’t Miss: The day I was leaving I got up early and with my breakfast coffee actually wandered around the resort. I wanted to see the Icons which were great to look at and the Classic years building. I had read somewhere they looked sad but I think that is just interpretation. They are just unfinished.

Room Location Suggestion: I askend for near the main building and got the middle of the 70’s this is away form the pools and near enough to walk easily for coffee in the morning and at night. It was easy to access the bus stop without going through the main areas.

The Mouse For Less Tip: I found the drink mug a really good deal.

Comments: The food in the food court was much better than I expected. I had dinner twice and both meals I enjoyed. I was not so keen on the breakfast but I think that was just european taste rather than there was something wrong with it. The staff were very helpful and I was send back for a second drink for breakfast which the girl didn’t need to tell me.

I got a room in the area I requested which considering I didn’t check-in till 10pm was great.

Don’t Miss: The huge and totally gaudy (in a good way!) icons for each decade. I love the Foosball men and Mickey phone in the 70’s area and the Playdoh is always good, too. Roger Rabbit is AWESOME!

Room Location Suggestion: We were on the backside of the 80’s building (building 9) facing the 90’s parking lot. This is a great spot for catching the bus as you can cut through the 90’s parking lot to get on them.

Comments: Having stayed in All Star Sports, I would say that after our visit to Pop, we will probably never return and will instead choose All Stars again. They didn’t seem to be really big on enforcing the no smoking policy and we have the people in all of the rooms surrounding us going out on the balcony to smoke. This of course wafted into our room. The walls seems extra-thin as we could hear normal conversations at all hours. The beds are really hard, too. I had read this on several reviews prior to the trip and thought it to be odd, but it is true! Although the theming was great, there was little else to make us want to stay here again.

Theming: we really had fun with this place!!! We spent a hour or more one evening just walking around, taking pictures. Our dd LOVED IT!!

Room Size: They are the size of an average hotel room. It is plenty big for the 3 of us, but were not in the room much.

Amenities: basics in room, the resort itself has a couple really neat pools and a large food court that had some good choices. We try to eat pretty healthy and they had more options that we expected.

Quality: Very good, of course its more expensive for the size and amenities, but its Disney and its worth it to be on property (if your Disney people like we are)

Cleanliness: very clean and housekeeping did a good job of keeping it that way while we were there.

Transportation: The busses were great. We never waited more than a few minutes for a bus, even when leaving Magic Kingdom around closing time.

Recreation: Nice pools with lifeguards, and an arcade are the biggest things we used. We encountered some activities for little ones, giant bowling in the lobby (not permanent, 2 cast members brought them out), a Twister game between 2 buildings (this is permanent), some type of hula hoop activity was being set up at one point neat the busses. We spent a lot of time walking around and found some new deco each time. We also found lots of wildlife and each morning DD would take her leftover bread out to a family of ducks that were very friendly.

I think more recreation would be a plus. If our daughter was small Im sure that would be a huge plus for us, she always loved that kind of thing.

Don’t Miss: All of the decorations!! (We loved the huge foozeball.) The displays inside near check-in. On the wall across from the desks they have displays of toys and all kinds of stuff from past decades. The CM at check on told us that all of the CMs went through their attic and brought in things they found there to add to the display. Its really neat to look through it all. We walked through several times and pointed out things that we had when we were kids, and even our dd recognized lots of things either from when she was younger or from seeing it on TV. It makes for interesting conversation about when we were kids or when she was younger. We had some very interesting conversation about all of the things we saw at this resort. We learned things about each other and got to share memories (its always interesting to hear what kids remember about the past that parents might have forgotten) and that makes a vacation more meaningful and helps you grow closer as a family. (Isnt that what its all about ?)

Room Location Suggestion: There are preferred room, but I dont think its at all necessary unless you have mobility issues because we walked around all of the buildings and it seemed to be a short walk to the main hall from all of them. There is parking for each building and one morning when my daughter was having some pain (she has chronic pain issues) we drove around to the front of the main hall and parked there for the day so it was just a hop across the road to the bus, food court etc.. and when we got off the bus the vehicle was right there.

The Mouse For Less Tip: The $77 passholder rate was a great deal!! DD and DH got caricatures there because they were done by hand, not airbrushed and they were a few dollars cheaper than at DTD. They were both REALLY pleased with the results and felt like he did an excellent job and they enjoyed talking to him while they were being done. (the guy who does them at POP does them at AK and I think they were $2 cheaper at AK)

Comments: We really enjoyed this stay and will be back at POP in the future!!
