SO GOOD!!!! We especially love the Broccoli Cheese soup and the Clam Chowder in the bread bowls. This place is a must. The line can get very long, but it is worth the wait.

People are not lying when they say this is amazing. I don’t even like clam chowder, but I tried my daughters and it was pretty good!

I had the broccoli and cheese it was delicious.

We even went back for a second visit on another day during our latest trip. I will definitely be going again because I really want to try the corn chowder.

The line can look daunting but it moves very fast!

The bread bowl soups are excellent, the salads and sandwiches are what you would expect. The line can get pretty long here.

When: multiple times (review submitted June 9, 2010)

    What: Dinner.

    Price of Entrees: $13.00
It’s not a very private atmosphere but it’s really nice to sit outside and look out at the water and throw extra bread to the ducks.

Be Sure to Try: Thick & Hearty Soups – served in a sourdough bread bowl, baked fresh on-premises in the Boudin Bakery Bakersfield Broccoli and Cheese – $8.99 Coke – 2.79

TheMouseForLess tips: The portioning is good, you definately get a large bowl of soup plus the fresh baked bread taste amazing.

Extra comments: The line moves pretty quick because the cashier isn’t helping you order and get your food, there is always someone else there getting the food as you order it. This is perfect on chilly nights.

What: We ate lunch. Chowder bowl and Chinese chicken salad.

Price of Entrees: $8.99 ea plus beverage totaling to $21.00

Food was good. Would like to have more chicken and vegetables in salad.

We have eaten here many times and there is always a line, but it moves quickly. Staff is always pleasent.

Be Sure to Try: Clam Chowder Bowl

General tips: Try to avoid the lunch crowd and go after 1 PM to ensure seating.

Extra comments: Santa Rose Corn Chowder was not very good at all. We split my husband’s Clam Chowder Bowl.

What: Lunch, roast beef sandwich, sonoma chicken salad

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Be Sure to Try: chicken salad was really good. Came served with enough sourdough bread to feed an army.

General tips: If you want, you can ask for butter, at the counter for the sourdough. We ended up doing that, and ate sourdough with butter for an hour…. Bring your own water, drinks are expensive…

Extra comments: Lunch was great, however, the chineese place was closed, and that limited choices to the soup and salad, sandwich place or Mexican. Do check to see what is planned to be open, so you don’t have your heart set on something, and then can’t get it.

Be Sure to Try: The Chicken/apple salad in the bread bowl was wonderful. I go out of my way to visit the park to have this meal. Yummy and filling.

General tips: Better at night when it’s a bit more quiet.

    What: Dinner

Be Sure to Try: The clam chowder & vegie chili was very good!!

General tips: We sat outside in shade & enjoyed the break from the hustle & bustle of the park. We were also serenaded by an all female mariachi band. Nice little bonus we enjoyed.

MouseforLess Tip: These servings are very big & for some people with smaller appetites, you could easily share a bowl of soup, taking full advantage of eating the entire sourdough soup bowl.

Extra comments: A must do when we return again!!

Be Sure to Try: The soups. The clam chowder and corn chowder were both wonderful.

General tips: There are some great seating areas nearby. On a nice day, sit outside and soak up that great CA weather.

MouseforLess Tip: The bread bowls are very large and filling.

Extra comments: We got a yummy cookie to split for dessert, and there were many other tempting choices.

When: May 2001, November 2001, May 2002 (more than 1 meal every visit!)

    What: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Approximate Price of Entrees: $7.00 (more or less depending on menu item)

outdoor eating on the wharf overlooking Paradise Pier. Great for the restless child to work off some energy!
Okay for Couples: Yes, especially at night. Can be quiet and quaint during “off” meal times.

Be Sure to Try: ANYTHING in the Boudin’s bread bowl. Clam chowder and Shrimp Louis are our favorites. End your meal with a tasty chocolate macaroon!!

General tips: Line moves VERY fast, even when long. Worth the wait! Plan to eat during parade time and sit next to the water. You get a GREAT view of the Electrical parade…..very few people take advantage of it!!

Dollarless tips: Great meal sizes. Bread bowl makes this an VERY filling meal.

Extra Comments: One of our all-time favorite spots. We NEVER miss at least 2 or 3 meals here on a weekend visit, as the value and food are excellent. NOTE: There are discounts at this resuaurant so ASK! Also, AP Dining pins are available with a $20 purchase for free BUT you must ask for them.
