    Who: Valcarce Family

    Where: Garden Grill, Epcot Center
    When: June 7th, 2014

What: adult harvest feast, Edna Valley Pinot Noir, kids meal combination platter, Blonde Ale
    Rate the following: 5
    Food: 4
    Service: 5

    Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: The restaurant was not turning this day, but the characters all spent a long time at our table.
Okay for Couples: Yes – but check to see if it’s turning first.

Be Sure to Try: The beef was fantastic. I usually gravitate toward poultry or seafood (both were good here) but the beef was the best.

General tips: Make sure you sit your child on the outside so it’s easier for he/she to meet the characters.

This is one of the first restaurants we book each trip. With family style platters of food and characters stopping by your table its a true Disney treat.

We thoroughly enjoyed this meal and the environment, it was like having a buffet delivered to your table and everything was wonderful! My favorite was the homemade maple butter, I wish I could have some shipped to me and the atmosphere and scenery as you rotate slowly is just beautiful, kids loved it to for the characters who were great and friendly!

This was our 1st time eating here in Oct. 2010 and more than likely our last. I’ve heard good things about it that it was big on our “must” do list and it was DD’s 10th bday celebration.
I’ve had better service and worse. It was not busy at the time we went, I think ADR’s were around 4:30ish. It took our server a long time to refill our drinks, bring us extra napkins,or more food and that was only after we asked from “flagging” her down,a few times we had to remind her and never on her own.She never once asked how our meal was or if we needed anything.
It was family style, which is fine w/us, but they served the meats on top of the nonmeat items….like beef sitting on top of potatoes, then all 6items came on 1 platter. Didn’t like all the food “smushed” together. Server also stated that DD (she was still the “child” price b/c her actual bday was 3days away)could eat any of the adult foods and she told us what was on the child’s menu and adults could eat that as well. there really wasn’t anything on the child’s menu that DD would eat and I am the type of person who hates wasting anything. All I could think of is them throwing away all the child’s food. So I told the server my concern and that DD could just eat the adult food as I would hate for them to throw all that away. She stated it was fine, many people choose to do that as well. However, what she didn’t tell us is there is an “upcharge” for DD to eat only the adult food. That was my biggest complaint, it would of been 1 thing if during the conversation she would of stated that, but she didn’t. In the end we saved them $$ by not throwing all that child’s food away and they made extra $$ on top of it.
Many people state that they like the resturant rotating, which in theroy is kind of neat, but you don’t really see that much and what you do see, is fake/plastic trees/plants for much of it.I wish they would change the senery to be more interesting.
Character interation was okay, Micky and one of the chipmunks stayed a few minutes and interacted. the rest was a quick stop, pic and left. Each character only came to our table once.
Overall, was not thrilled w/this resturant and personally wouldn’t recommend it. And to spend that kind of money on top of not liking it really puts me off even more and not willing to give it a 2nd chance. But I can understand how some might like it, we are just not one of those families.

We ate at Garden Grill in October 2010. It was our 1st time eating there but will not be our last. We loved the fact that the restaurant rotated. The characters were amazing. We saw Micky, Chip N Dale and Pluto. The food was out of this world. The bread and butter was really good. The fish we had was amazing even my 10 year old ate multiple servings of it. We loved the fact that a lot of the food came from downstairs at the Land ride area. The service was amazing. Our server brought my 10 year old the kids dessert even though she was older and also gave her a Disneyland pen. This is now a must do restaraunt for us.

We love the Garden Grill. We love the small size of the resturant and the great character interaction. The characters are friendly and usually really playful with kids and sometimes adults. We enjoy the family style meal and the food is great too! It is always a favorite with our kids and adults!

One of our kids favorite restaurants. Characters took a lot of time with us and it was cute to see them dressed as farmers. Enjoy moving through the different areas of the terra on the ride below. Really enjoyed the food! We even bagged up the extra in zip locks to take back to the room and it was still good later.

I had the pleasure of enjoying the Garden Grill in a large group setting. I sponsored a class of 12 high school seniors and was looking for places that teens might like to eat. This is a tough challenge to say the least consider trying to please that many different tastes and styles. The family style service at Garden Grill fit very well for our group since it allowed people to choose what they liked to eat and then have as much of it as you wanted. Nobody left this meal hungry as the servers were kept very busy and did a great job keeping up with this hungry crowd. The kids and adults also loved the interaction with the characters that spend quite a bit of time at our table. I had several exchange students who in this class and they were overjoyed to be able to interact with all these characters. The pictures from this dinner were a highlight for most of the kids and became a very distinctive memory. It was nice to recharge the batteries during this meal and then head back out into the parks after we ate. I would highly recommend this restaurant for pretty much anyone and is a welcome break from the regular fare that you find in most counter service restaurants.

Went to garden grill in nov 2010 and it was very nice. I had been there a few years before, and the characters don’t just buzz by like they do at some of the other character meals. I got several pictures of mickey in a farmer outfit. so cute
they came to our table at least two times each. the restaurant rotates so slowly you dont really notice it moving. My husband enjoyed it also as well as the food. Going there again in a couple weeks

The only problem we had was my youngest son does not eat certain foods and all the food came on one plate. I didn’t realize it because last time we ate here my friend, who has an allergy to fish was with us, so all the food was served on seperate plates which was perfect for my son. If you have a picky eater like I do request a plate for them with their likes.

We went to the Garden Grill for the first time this last trip (September 2011). I’ll start with the theming. The restaurant revolves slowly, changing your scenery, which includes some portions of the Living with the Land ride. Our boys (5 and 3) were quite intrigued by this.

The food was delicious. We turkey, beef, and fish with various sides and relishes. For our boys, our server brought oven-roasted drumsticks with macaroni and cheese, broccoli, and sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the fish and the kids’ sweet potato fries.

Since we were celebrating my oldest son’s 6th birthday and our 12th anniversary, our server brought out some special desserts. My son had a candle in his cookies and cream mousse, and DH and I had a slice of chocolate cake with a candle in it. Of course, we also received the fruit cobbler that was on the menu, which is what I ate the most of (delicious!) since the chocolate cake was just your every day cake, but it was nice that they acknowledged our special day.

As for the character interaction, we saw each character (Chip, Dale, Mickey, and Pluto) several times. Dale, seeing my Happy Anniversary button, insisted that DH and I share a kiss. Mickey gave my youngest a high five every time he passed.

I have to say that this is one of the best character meals on property when you look at food, atmosphere, service, and character interaction combined.

We visited Garden Grill March, 2011, over Spring Break. We found this restaurant to be a relatively hidden gem. We love the family style dining. Nothing can break up a relaxing meal more than having to get up and get your own food! We had plenty of interaction with the characters, we even saw Dale THREE TIMES! Our server was very attentive to our allergies, and worked with us on what we could and couldn’t have, even after the chef came out to talk to us. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We love this restaurant. This is about the only one that my son ask to go to every time we are at Disneyworld. Our last visit was August 2010. We love the way the food is served family style. My son enjoys the steak and fish. I enjoy it all. The character interaction is the best. They take the time to visit, sign autographs and take pictures. We can’t wait to go back in December on our next visit.

We have eaten here with our kids twice…and have ADR’s for the end of October. The first time (May 2007) was very good and the kids were thrilled. At the time, my son was obsessed with Chip and Dale! We had lunch on the day of arrival. The second time was not nearly as impressive to me (Sept 2010). We did not find the food nearly as good, we were late being seated, even though we were the first time slot when it opened, and the wait staff was not nearly as attentive. That being said, we are going again next month and my kids all asked to go here again. They really love the fact that it rotates and you get to see the scenes from the ride. We all also love the characters. It’s great to get a few of the major characters (usually Mickey, Pluto) as well as some others (usually Chip and Dale). We sure hope the food is better again this trip!

I have eaten at the Garden Grill twice in the past two years and loved it both times. The food is lovely and the interaction with the characters is fantastic.

We first went there as a family of three (husband, son and myself) on Christmas Day 2009 and had a great time with Chip and Dale, Mickey and Pluto. All the characters interacted really well and, because it is quite small, had plenty of time to “chat” with us and, occasionally, each other.

The most recent visit to the Garden Grill was in September 2011 for my birthday. This time my step-daughter (who was also celebrating her 25th birthday during our trip) was also with us. As my step-daughter and I were both wearing our birthday pins the characters immediately wished us “happy birthday” as only they can. As it was so quiet, we actually saw all of the characters 3 times! And they stopped to chat each time they came round. My step-daughter even asked Dale if he would like to come home with her and offered to leave her dad behind to do Dale’s job! Dale took my husband with him to the next table to give him some training but my husband didn’t respond well so we decided that maybe Dale should stay behind afterall.

As my step-daughter and I were celebrating our birthdays, we both also got a small piece of the most wonderful chocolate cake with a candle. I thought that was a nice touch.

I will definitely be going back to the Garden Grill on our next visit to WDW.

Our dinner at the Garden Grill on Saturday, September 10, 2011 was started off with a welcome from Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. All of the characters gathered on the upper tier of seats and waved to waiting guests. One lucky family was chosen to be the first family in the restaurant and had their photos taken with all four of the characters together.

The restaurant opens at 4 PM daily and our reservation was at 4:10 PM. We were seated shortly after 4 PM. A chef came out and spoke to us about our allergies and what was safe for us to eat. Disney has implemented this policy in all of their restaurants. We started with pomegranate lemonade that was delicious. Our family style salad was served next. The chef pointed out that most of the ingredients were grown in the Land pavilion.

Our main dish was served family style on a long rectangular plate. We had the fish omitted from our plate. The turkey was tender and juicy and served with a wonderful cranberry orange relish. The mashed potatoes were thick and creamy. The rice pilaf was fluffy and complimented the flank steak. We asked for seconds and received them promptly. We also had a side order of the kid’s Mac and cheese with the crush Gold Fish crackers on top. It was perfect. Dessert consisted of a fresh cobbler. Today it was a berry cobbler with fresh whipped cream.

Throughout our meal the restaurant slowly rotated. We were able to enjoy the entire rotation during our meal. The characters were fabulous. They took ample time at each table joking and interacting with guests at the table. During this visit, every character, except for Chip visited our table twice.

This hidden treasure eatery is one of our family’s favorite restaurants. The hospitality is outstanding. It is a perfect family meal to all sit together and have the characters and food come to you. I would highly recommend the Garden Grill.

We ate at the Garden Grill for the first time in October, 2010. We were pleasantly surprised after having put off going to this restaurant during our many other trips. The fact that it rotates is a very unique aspect of the restaurant–every once in awhile we’d look up and say, “Oh, hey!” as we looked at a different scene. The night we were there we had the opportunity to see the characters several times. They would come through and joke around with us–sit down–pose for pictures–we loved it!

The food and DESSERT were INCREDIBLE! I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice variety, family-style “home-cooked,” and healthier options.

I’m not sure I would recommend it for very small children–there wasn’t quite enough to keep their attention span. But our 8 year old enjoyed it–as did our 14-year old daughter and her friend. The adults were even joking around and having a great time! Definitely a must-do on our next trip.

Garden Grill is perhaps one of the most underrated Disney World restaurants. This little gem of a character meal at Epcot is a plated, all-you-can-eat feast, with different kinds of meat, fresh veggies, delicious bread and butter, and a cobbler that’s to die for to top it all off. The menu seems to change a bit seasonally.

It’s worth it coming here just for the food and the rotating view of some of the scenes from the “Living With the Land” ride, but the character experience really tops it off right.

Many character meals are rushed, with the characters pausing just long enough to pose for photos, sign an autograph, and hurry to the next table. At the Garden Grill, they take the time to stop and interact. We’ve seen many neat interactions with kids at nearby tables, and they stop and play around with us, too, even though we’re just a party of two adults.

Garden Grill is relatively small, so it’s not unusual to get visits from the same characters twice, especially when it’s not overly crowded.

Okay for Children: Yes- We spent more time with the characters here than any other place we have been.

Okay for Couples: Yes- if you like home style food and are still a kids at heart ( I am).

Be Sure to Try: Try it all.

General tips: We have found that when we book late dinners we do not have much of a wait for a table and service is faster as well because there are less people inside.

Extra Comments: Be sure to bring your autograph book and camera.

Service: – our server was Luis we were seated for 20mins before he even came to take our drink order….we had seen Dale, Chip and Pluto in that time. He never offered us more food or drink refills…very disappointed in the service

Okay for Children: Yes it’s characters Chip, Dale, Pluto and Mickey

Okay for Couples: if you like characters yes

Be Sure to Try: Dessert! Other then that we didn’t like the food

General tips: it was very busy here! We arrived 20 mins before our ADR and ended up waiting 45 to be seated! we sat on the floor and attempted to keep ds entertained!

TheMouseForLess tips: Disney Dining Plan-i would have been extremely upset if we would have paid for this meal OOP…didn’t feel it’s worth the $76 it would have cost us

Extra Comments: The place is fairly small the characters make the rounds quite easily! We save Chip Dale and Pluto 3 times before we ever saw Mickey…not sure where Mickey was! We had a lot of fun with Dale…we asked him if he was chip or dale and he grabs the autograph book and opens it up to a page and points but it was eyeores name we dh and I joked with him about that and he was so funny! Everytime he would come to our table we would say HI EYEORE! he would put his hand/paw on his hip and scold us! it was a lot of fun! This will not be a repeat eat though for us!

Be Sure to Try: My son (10) didn’t like the chicken nuggets and I tasted them and agreed they had a funny flavor to them. The macaroni and cheese was mushy. The steak they first served us was wayyy too rare so I asked for some that was more well done. The second batch was sooo well done I couldn’t chew the top piece but the rest were alright. The mushroom sauce was really good. The best part of the meal was the potato casserole. I like the salad a lot too. My baby ate the cornbread :) I ate mostly the catfish which was fine, nothing great. The chicken was read in the center and I can’t stand that so no one at our table touched that. The celebration cake I ordered had like a chocolate mousse in it that was soooo yummy and we only ate half the cake so we did give the rest to the table beside us :)

General tips: We sat on the upper level, but I think that the booths on the lower level have a better view. We were there at 4:45 so one of the first tables seated. We had a lot of character interaction but the entire restaurant had a not quite ready feel about it. I never got a water refill until I was almost ready to leave :(

TheMouseForLess tips: I just didn’t feel this meal was worth the price!

Extra Comments: Character interaction here was good! We saw Mickey, Pluto, and Chip & Dale all in farmer attire. The food is served family style.

This is in Epcot located in the Land. (1 table service)
The Food is served family style it was Chicken, steak, mash potatoes, and string beans and a dessert….it was cold and kinda dry…it was just ok

Pro’s- The Restaurant rotates slowly and looks over the Land Ride…that is the neat part about this place. Characters were Chip & Dale, Mickey and Pluto. They come around the tables alot.

Con’s- I have a few…..the server was just ok. It took her along time to make it around and she was nice but just doing her job nice. The food was ok…not bad but nothing to write home about. One thing that really bothered me was that while we were eating and while the Characters are coming around people outside walking around were not stopped so they were walking up the ramps and yelling for the Characters and a few children ran up to them while we were taking pictures or eating and no one said anything. The best part is the characters and the way it moves….it was ok but I won’t go back.

Be Sure to Try: The turkey was on the dry side and the flank steak was OK, but the catfish was outstanding! The vegetables were crispy and fresh. My kids liked the mac and cheese.

General tips: We sat on the upper level, but I think that the booths on the lower level have a better view. There is no rest room inside the restaurant itself. If you need a rest room, you have to use the one on the upper level of The Land. It’s not a far walk.

TheMouseForLess tips: Lunch is less expensive than dinner, and I think the only menu difference is that dinner includes a salad.

General tips: The restaurant rotates but VERY slowly. I had posted asking about the motion because my parents are very motion sick prone. This restaurant did not bother them in the least. We even forgot that it moved until we left and we had to walk the opposite way to the exit!

TheMouseForLess tips: It wasn’t a cheap meal by any means but it was worth every penny. Plus we were guaranteed a seat for CP.

Extra Comments: Our server Nik was THE BEST. He was funny and very attentive. I wrote to Disney about him when I returned home but never heard back from them.

    Okay for Children: Absolutely!

Okay for Couples: If you like characters and you want to see a different view of the Living with Land ride – Run, don’t walk, LOL!

Be Sure to Try: Try everything they bring! It is all delicious! I especially have a thing for their tomatoes and the salad dressing and the….oh! all of it, LOL. The steak is tender, the catfish is just right and I have actually told people about the veggies. The smashed potatoes should come in bigger bowls, but don’t worry they bring more as soon as you ask.

General tips: If you request a booth chances are you will be on the lower level. It’s up to you which you prefer. We just plain prefer a booth. I forgot to request this when we checked in for our PS at 5:30 but they quickly accommodated me once I asked. Sometimes getting the time you want can be difficult so call and make a PS as soon as you know when you are interested in.

TheMouseForLess tips: Try and schedule your day so you can eat lunch here as the lunch prices are less expensive than the dinner prices. For the amount of food, the quality, the characters and the atmosphere ( the restaurant revolves through the scenes from the Living with the Land ride) you are really getting a lot of BANG for your buck!

Extra Comments: Be sure and ride Living with the Land before or after dinner. Your best bet is to ride it before dinner just to make sure it doesn’t close before you are done with dinner since it closes at 7:00. Also, keep in mind that that whomever wants to have interaction with the characters needs to be towards the outside. Some of the characters seemed a bit more hurried than others but we definitely got a good amount of time with them. Not to mention in between visits from the characters you can appreciate the different scenes down below. * As far as my rate above for service, what knocked it down from a 5 was how long it took us to be waited on at the table. We were seated quickly and then we just sat there. Once we got rolling, everything was just fine but it was a slow starter. From what I understand it takes an hour for the restaurant to revolve once so maybe they have it timed?
