Review – French Market, New Orleans Square
    Who: Valcarce Family

    Where: Disneyland Park
    When: January 23rd, 2016

    What: Lunch
Items ordered: Large bottle of water, kid’s mac and cheese meal with fruit and veggies, 60th Anniversary Cake, Mint Julep, New Orleans Salad
    Cost: $47.02

    Rate the following: 5
Food: 4 – All the food was delicious, although not everyone agreed on the cake
Service: 5 – the long line moved quickly

    Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: Seating is outside next to the New Orleans train station, with the Royal Street Bachelors playing a live set on the stage as we took our seats
Okay for Couples: This place does NOT feel like quick service. Especially if you like Dixieland jazz!

Be Sure to Try: The salad changed since the last time we came, but I liked it. Crisp bacon and nice greens made it a good meal.

This is one of the better laid out cafeteria style restaurants in Disneyland. Our family of four split two meals (2 adults a 9 year old and a 3.5 year old). We had the Pasta gratin, and seafood and chicken jambalaya and a HUGE piece of chocolate cake that was amazing!! (it had edible glitter on it even)
Food: The food was great! The jambalaya had a TON of shrimp and was perfectly seasoned. The Pasta Gratin was great as well, a little bit of a more sophisticated mac and cheese. What I liked best were the vegetables with each meal! The were nicely cooked (not super rubbery) and really made it feel like a meal.
Service: This is cafeteria style but the cast members were all really nice and the restaurant is well laid out for people with children.
Atmosphere: It is nice and relaxed on the patio, however it is not super well lit later in the evening, but you can catch some of fantasmic while you eat.
Price/Value: Excellent. We were surprised at how inexpensive it was.
Romance: I think this would be a romantic place.
    Suitable for children: Absolutely.

    What: Lunch

Price of Entrees: $12.50 for my husband’s and $11.50 for mine.

Okay for Children: Yes it is okay but I don’t think they would enjoy it like adults would.
Okay for Couples: Yes! We loved listening to live Jazz music as we ate our surprisingly wonderful food.

Be Sure to Try: I loved the clam chowder soup. Its appearance does not seem to be out of the ordinary but the taste is outstanding. I am still trying to figure out all that is in it.

Extra Comments: Originally my husband and I were turned off by the cafeteria-like serving system. We thought that the food might not be as good but we were proved wrong. The price might seem high but is yummy and filling… not to mention you get a great show while you eat.

What: Lunch – I got a Pasta Gratin with sauteed vegetables and a large bottle of water and a Dreams Dessert, Marcel got the pasta gratin and a mint julep, Lorien got the toddler meal which came with a free Nightmare Before Christmas ornament, Grandpa got a fruit salad and an apple tart, and Grandpa got the roast beef.

You can get a quiet table away from the crowds if that’s what you’re looking for.

Be Sure to Try: my husband raved about his mint julep, but I find those things annoyingly sweet.

General tips: We had a fairly early lunch; our receipt says 11:21 AM, and it was very quiet and uncrowded.

Extra Comments: We were finishing our lunch just as the Royal Street Bachelors were setting up. I guess they start at noon. They are really good!

Dont miss – the desserts are all ridiculously big. My parents shared the apple tart, and Marcel, Lorien and I shared the Dreams Dessert – and we’re dessert people, but honestly, I don’t know how they expect one human being to finish that thing!

What: Dinner – My husband ordered the rice and beans & cheesecake and I ordered the fried chicken, salad and apple pie

Approximate Price of Entrees: about $15 a person but we got dessert and salad

Excellent for children, they offer grapes or salad instead of fries or potatoes if you wish, plus they have milk, not just soda.

Excellent for couples, they have jazz bands playing and it’s right in the middle of the rides

Be Sure to Try: The fried chicken is DELICIOUS! Plus they were able to accomodate me with mashed potatoes instead of fries.

General tips: They drown the salad in dressing so be sure to keep an eye out, but the Ranch dressing is the most delicious dressing I’ve ever tasted. And if you see a table grab it right away, this place fills up quick!!!

MouseForLess tips: If you get the fried chicken I would split it. They give you 3 huge pieces of fried chicken. I ate there when I was 6 months pregnant and I still couldn’t finish all the food. Also, they don’t care if you’re an adult and get a kids meal, they’re just the right amount.

Extra Comments: an A+ for this restaurant!!! Usually a long line though so get in line a.s.a.p. and have everyone else get a table. Since it is in the middle of everything if you don’t like noise I wouldn’t suggest eating here. It’s right next to the bathroom and the train and the haunted mansion.

    When: October 1st, 2007

What: Lunch – chicken with rice and beans, seafood fettucine, kid macaroni, free Jack Skellington coin necklace, 2 mint juleps, milk.

    Approximate Price of Entrees: $34.91

The fettucine was OUTSTANDING – the kind of meal that makes you say “I never expected something this good at a theme park!”
outdoor seating under umbrellas, and the Royal Street Bachelors, a groovy Dixieland band, played. very kid friendly food. sit “out of the way” overlooking the New Orleans Square train station or up near the stage to hear the band.

Be Sure to Try: I’m telling you – the fettucine was outstanding. Also, my Mom ate the apple pie and said it was great.

General tips: I’m telling you – the fettucine was outstanding. Also, my Mom ate the apple pie and said it was great.

MouseForLess tips: I couldn’t finish my fettucine – I could easily have shared that plate, but I’m not a huge eater.

Extra Comments: This might be my favorite Disneyland restaurant because of the entertainment and variety of food.

    What: dinner (counter service)

Approximate Price of Entrees: $13 (royal fried chicken with salad, red beans and rice and a beverage)

Be Sure to Try: mint juleps

General tips: Entrees come with salads, making this was a very satisfying dinner.

Dollarless tips: If you have a Deluxe or Premium Annual Pass, be sure to ask for the AP discount. You can refill your beverages for free, just present your receipt.

Extra Comments: Keep your eyes peeled for the resident park cats. The two times I have spotted Disneyland cats, it was at this restaurant.
