We finally tried Flametree after two dozen WDW visits. Ordering was easy, but carrying the food around the waiting guests and down to the seating areas was a struggle as I was the only one who could carry stuff for my family and they gave us two trays. In hindsight, I should have asked a CM for help, but we did make it to a nice table close to the water (and construction for the Rivers of Light). Adult son devoured his half chicken, which was very moist. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich and added some of the sweet sauce to make it just right for his taste. I usually avoid meat but didn’t want a fruit salad, so I ordered the turkey sandwich. Very fresh ingredients on good bread, and so large I shared part of it with my husband. I liked the baked beans too. We had the key lime and chocolate desserts, both very nice finishes to the meal. The birds were numerous but we didn’t really have a problem with them. A very pleasant setting for an early lunch, and decent food too.

We have come to really like Flame Tree BBQ. With limited options at Animal Kingdom – we truly enjoy this option.

We have not had a bad meal.

Worst part – having to walk to get to our table.

This is our preferred quick service meal in Animal Kingdom. The food is very good and we love the outdoor seating areas. My kids love the birds and ducks that wander around the tables and find them very entertaining to watch as we dine.

Be sure to try: Pork sandwich, BBQ chicken salad and the fruit plate with honey yogurt.

The pork sammies are YUM! This is our favorite quick service spot in all of the parks! The dining area is HUGE & so relaxing especially around dusk when they light up all the lanterns. You get a great view of everest & no foot traffic or sit near the fountain area. The food isnt bad & weve been here a few times- 1 thing you should know is that not all the seating areas have condiments, napkins etc. so scout out your table, find out where the BBQ sauce & ketchup is & if your there late (like us) its almost romantic, well as romantic as a quick service will ever get…. in a theme park

    When: 8 Oct 2010

What: ribs, chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, onion rings.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Total $7.50/person

Okay for Children: YES! We sat out front (seating is at a premium there) on a bench. I had ran to the back to get some utensils/napkins and WOW.. the seating area is quite large with a breathtaking lakeside view of Expedition Everest. WARNING: this area is premium realty so have someone scout it out and get the seats while the other places the order!

Okay for Couples: Yes – we enjoyed our meal together.

Be Sure to Try: The ribs, chicken, baked beans, and onion rings were very good. The coleslaw was good, but not as good as the previously mentioned.

General Tips: Be ready to order when you arrive at the cashier, my wife is phenominal with this! Should you get stuck behind the parent that has to Q&A their child for every little thing, at least your time at the register will be quick and others behind you will be appreciative. Additionally, we were surprised, and happy to see, that we had the option to order a frosty adult beverage. You will not have this option inside the Magical Kingdom.

TheMouseForLess Tips: Portions are pretty big. We had 2 adults and 4 children. We ordered 4 entrees and that was plenty. Adults can easily share the ribs/chicken and sides. Any more would have been wasted.

    When: April 2009

What: Lunch-Smoked 1/2 Chicken with baked beans and corn muffin,Pork Sandwich with baked beans and the kids Baked Chicken Drumstick with Jello and grapes. We also had the cake for dessert.

    Approximate Price of Entrees: DDP

Be Sure to Try: Pork sandwich

General Tips: If you go a little after the main lunch time you will not have to wait in a very long line.

Extra Comment: To us, this was one of the best CS places to eat at Disney.

    When: April 3, 2009

What: Lunch: Rib plate with cole slaw and baked beans, Boys had the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans. We ordered a basket of fries to share. We all had key lime pie for dessert.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Fry basket is $3.99. We were on the meal plan and there is no price on the reciept

Food: 4 for ribs. 5 for pulled pork and fries

Service: Our food was on 2 trays and my son was there to carry one while his friend stacked out a table. I was on my scooter so someone helped carry the other tray to the table.

Atmosphere: We always sit near this little lake where you can see Expedition Everest. The lost points were because of the attack ducks.

Be Sure to Try: I would recommend the Pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw. The ribs were good but greasy.

General Tips: We really like sitting in the covered area across from Expedition Everest. We’ve usually been in April and not found it very crowded. Once we even saw Goofy come by in a boat that was playing music.

TheMouseForLess Tips: My sister in law was also with us with her 3 girls(15,13,& 12)and the two younger girls could have easily shared a sandwich. But it satisfied my two always hungry teenage boys.

Extra Comment: DON’T feed the ducks!!! They become aggressive. My niece was bitten by one and then it went after my sister in law.

    When: April 3, 2009

What: Lunch: 3 rib plates, 1 chicken plate

Approximate Price of Entrees: On the DDP- honestly, I dont remember .

Be Sure to Try: the ribs were OK.

General Tips: We got there late afternoon & probably the last to be seated. This was the prettiest place to eat a counter meal in any of the parks. We sat next to the pond (easiest for strollers) it was deserted except for the ducks which the 1& 2 yr olds just loved.

TheMouseForLess Tips: hese could include advice on portion size, discounts that might be available such as annual pass or anything that might save money.

Extra Comment: Just grab a coke & sit back in the seating section which is HUGE & very shady when its hot- skip the 1/2 chicken platter- the chicken looked like a blown out rubbery tire.

What: Two had the ribs, one the Chicken, shared a Key Lime Pie.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Total $8

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Okay for Children: We have no children under 30, but I believe it would be good for kids.

Okay for Couples: YES, the food is always good, tender and tasty.

Be Sure to Try: We love the chicken and/or the ribs, and the new muffins are so tasty and wonderful, you always get more than enough food to fill you up, sometimes hard to finish everything, with chicken/ribs and muffin and beans.

General Tips: WE love to go down by the lake, there is a pavilion that faces the Ride Expedition Everest, there is one right at the water, and the characters come by on a boat from time to time, but there is other pavilions near there, also a ornamental pool to sit near at some tables, it is very relaxing.

TheMouseForLess Tips: Portions are large, could almost order one meal for two people, especially if you are not hungry. We ordered a Key Lime pie, it took 3 of us adults to finish it, we had so much food, my son and husband saved their corn muffin for later and it was still delicious, we stuffed it into the drink cup, wrapped in a napkin, then in a bag, it was delicious.

Extra Comments: Make sure you go down the paths away from the front pavilion, we ate there for years and never realized how far the paths go, or that there were more tables and pavilions.

    When: April 2008

What: We ordered on BBQ chicken salad, 1/2 chicken plate, 1/2 slab of ribs, onion rings, fruit plate

Approximate Price of Entrees: Around $30 for all the food, 1 drink and a refill of our drink bottle

Okay for Children: yes, there are lots of birds here to watch (not just your average seagull or crow)

Okay for Couples: yes, there are some nice quiet places to sit

Be Sure to Try: everything was excellent!!

General tips: look for a quieter place farther away from the counter for a more relaxing meal.

TheMouseForLess tips: f your not a big eater, you could split something like the chicken

Extra Comments: There were cranes walking up to tables looking for food, we are bird watchers so it was especially exciting for us, but I think most people would enjoy this and all of the kids in the area seemed to be amazed by it.

    When: October 2007

What: ribs, green salad with barbecued chicken

Approximate Price of Entrees: Total $7.50/person

Okay for Children: YES! The seating area is quite large and we walked to the very back where the 3 year old was able to take a nap in the stroller b/c it was relatively quiet – even when the parade walked by!

Okay for Couples: Yes – nice to watch the birds pick up the leftovers on the ground. There’s even a small reflecting pond with a tile wall around it that’s quite charming.

Be Sure to Try: The ribs were good and my kid loved the corn muffin. But the salad with chicken was superb. I was actually peeved we had to eat here, but the salad was delicious! It won me over and now I try to go back every year.

General Tips: The seating area is quite large and has lots of nooks and crannies. Try to have one member of the party scope seats while another adult waits in the long and slow moving line. That’s really my only complaint – the service at the window is slow.

TheMouseForLess Tips: Portions are pretty big. We had 4 adults and a three year old to feed and ordered 3 entrees and that was plenty. Any more would have been wasted.

    What: Lunch-Rib Meal ($8.49), Fries Basket ($3.49), BBQ Chicken Salad ($6.99), 2 Sodas ($4.18)

Approximate Price of Entrees: Total $24.66

Atmosphere: It is counter service, but there is plenty of seating. We found a nice table watching EVerest, and had an added bonus of seeing the Character Launch come around the lake.

Be Sure to Try: The barbecued ribs is my 11 year olds favorite. Very lean, and seasoned just right.

Extra Comments: The chicken salad was just OK. The chicken was sliced chicken, like lunch meat.

What: Lunch- St. Louis Ribs with beans and corn, Sprite and 2 milks and chocolate cake

Approximate Price of Entrees: $18.00 for the entire lunch.

Be Sure to Try: The ribs and beans were out of this world!

General tips: The wait was a little long. plenty of napkins.very messy, but worth it.

TheMouseForLess tips: The four of us split one lunch and desert. Just enough for a quick bite.

Extra Comments: Ryan did receive his first trading pin in celebration of his birthday.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Approx. Total $27…Used 2 CS Credits on the MYW Dining

Okay for Children: Yes…there was a child’s menu available.

Okay for Couples: Yes…lots of quiet seating back it the trees, and down by the water.

Be Sure to Try: The Rib Meal was very fresh.

General tips: There are lots of different types of covered outdoor seating… take a minute to walk thru the seating areas and find your favorite before you get your food.

TheMouseForLess tips: The MYW Dining Plan is our hero!

Extra Comments: We picked a table down by the water…and while we were relaxing and enjoying our lunch a boat full of Characters floated by, jamming out to some great music…who knew Counter Service Meals came with entertainment!
