We did not like this resort very much. The rooms were nice but that was about the only thing we liked. The food there was not very good. There was a convention going on while we were there and so there was usually several hundred people standing around drinking and smoking outside the main building and leaving cups and bottles everywhere.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ place. I’m in the former category rather than the latter and CSR tends to be my first choice when visiting Disney. I’m usually there a few times a year including my annual New Years Eve trip. To me, Coronado Springs is a true departure from my daily reality as it looks like northern Mexico and the landscaping is just beautiful. I find CSR to be incredibly peaceful and will just find a chair and sit and do nothing–which is quite unusual for me as I’m not much of a sitter. Its divided into three separate themes: Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas, and each reflect a different part of Mexico. My personal favorite are the Casitas as I love all of the pretty fountains and water features in the courtyards.

With CSR being a convention center it is rather large and also its usually booked solid most of the time, so you’ll always encounter people in the public areas, especially during lunches when the conventions go on break. With the guest rooms being scattered around a large lake it is impossible to be close to the main El Centro area and the pool because of the vastness of the resort. Only four bus stops at Coronado Springs with Casitas usually being the first pickup. Guests will find the food options to be plentiful, however a dining plan with Disney is beneficial at CSR because of an upcharge of 10% in the Pepper Market. This covers your servers who get your beverages and clean up after you. After a long day, that 10% is worth it to me.

Guest rooms have a desk rather than a table, which I like because I work while I am at Disney. Only one sink in the vanity area, but it is separated by heavy doors instead of a privacy curtain. Two queen beds are covered with crisp heavy thread count linens and a duvet. The decor really just suits the theming of the place.

My kids (and my mom) love the pool at Coronado Springs with its fast ‘jaguar’ slide. According to the kids its the second best pool at Disney after the Yacht & Beach Club’s Stormalong Bay. Another thing we like is the gelato served in Cafe Rix, which is the “grab & go” food place in El Centro. Gelato after a long day in the park holds more appeal to me than heavy ice cream, and I just love the fruit flavors.

If you go to Coronado Springs, take some time and walk around the grounds. Its huge, but beautiful.

I really love the new rooms at Coronado Springs. The queen sized beds are great, and I love the duvets on the beds. They really give the room a great look. The changes were great, and it makes this resort a great choice!

Our room at Coronado Springs had just been renovated and had an awesome set of doors to separate the bathroom from the bedroom. This was a great touch. The decor of the rooms was really subdued and beautiful. We really like the grounds at Coronado Springs and it has one of my kids favorite pools with the Jaguar slide. The food court her is a little upscale and there is a club for an after park drink. The rooms have a desk which is unique to this resort in the moderate category. Buses run regularly and we never had an issue with too long a wait.

    Don’t Miss: The Pyramid Pool.

Room Location Suggestion: A Corner room. Casita A.

Comments: We liked our stay here at the Coronado. We had a corner room but it was not close to the main pool. We enjoyed ourselves here pretty much. We loved the main pool and did not have any issues with mousekeeping. The bus transportation was ok. What we did not like was the Maya restaurant they have inside the resort. It was horrible, never again. The grounds are beautiful.

We had a great time at Disney’s Coronado resort and thoroughly enjoyed the theme, the rooms, the dining options and the pool!
Resort rooms are spread throughout the 3 themed sections of the resort. The Cabanas, the Ranchos and the Casitas. The three sections of the resorts are themed differently but the room amenities are the same. Rooms have a small refrigerator and a coffee maker as well as 2 queen-sized beds or one king-sized bed. We really love the room décor at the Coronado Springs. The crisp white duvets are accented with colorful accents that really fit with the theme of this resort.
There are a number of dining choices at Coronado Springs. Maya Grill is the table service spot and it has some great options. There are also some extensive quick service options. The Pepper Market has many different stations and the food is freshly made before your eyes. Café Rix is another quick service spot at this resort. Coronado Springs also has Rix Lounge which has appetizers and drinks.
There are a number of recreation options available at the resort including water activities because of the beautiful lake that is in the middle of the resort. In addition to the water activities, there is a great playground, volley ball courts, jogging trails and bike rentals. Coronado Springs has a beautiful pool area called the dig site. It features the very fun jaguar slide a Mayan temple and a large hot tub.
Because Disney’s Coronado Springs is in the moderate category, it has some great amenities at an affordable price and we think it is a great option!

Don’t Miss: Swimming areas are wonderful.

Room Location Suggestion: Any place must have been better than where we were.

The Mouse For Less Tip: Don’t wail until late to eat at this resort. The Pepper Market runs out of many things, even at the individual stalls.

Comments: We were quite a ways from the main building, even though we requested to be near. Both my daughter and our room had cleanliness issues. Mirrors had water spots, hair on bathroom floor and in tub, stained comforter, broken radio. My daughters room did not have a pak and play. We arrived late, so dropped our luggage in the room, she called for the pak and play, then we went to eat. We were gone 2 hours and the pak and play was not delivered. Called again and it was delivered quickly. I called and talked to the Housekeeping manager on the morning of checkout, because I just felt this was not right for a newly remodeled resort to have cleaning issues, and he was very concerned. Hopefully this will be corrected.

I loved the new decor of the rooms. They are very sleek and the bed is very comfortable and roomy. I just did not appreciate having a stained comforter. The sliding doors near the sink area are a nice addition. Allows for several people to be getting ready.

Don’t Miss: Love just walking around this resort, really pretty. You kind of forget that you are at Disney in a good way.

Room Location Suggestion: Not really sure, we were in the Ranchos, since this was our first stay, can’t really say if something else would have been better, but it was a bit of a walk to the main building (but not horrible).

The Mouse For Less Tip: I did not have a chance to research this hotel much before leaving. I had heard talks about Pepper Market but when we went to eat the first night, DD13 was having a moment and I ended up ordering food at what I thought was the counter service restaurant and it turned out that it was not, forget the name of the place off-hand, but I remember thinking that the food selection was not that good. The day we checked out we were spending with a friend, and while waiting for her to come and get us, we stumbled upon Pepper Market, which is a bit confusing. We accidently entered through the exit (again not remembering what other people had posted about eating here). So we got in line to select food, only to have to get out of line, to get a number, and be seated to get back in line again :o( Had a nice breakfast here, but prefer the counter/quick service places were you go and select your food and then go pay and then worry about a table.

Comments: DD13 did not like the main pool, although it might have been that she was off-kilter this day, but this was the night she had her biggest break-down on the trip. We were supposed to eat dinner out by the pool and she was going to swim and she went ahead to the pool and I was going to meet her there with food. She ended up meeting at the main building and we walked back and ate at the room. She said there were a lot of bugs in the pool. I never did actually get to see the pool.

Also, the buses seemed to be really good here, going and coming from the park. Not sure if it is because of the late starts we got and we never made it to park closing. We were also a short walk from a bus stop.

Rate Paid During Your Stay: we were on the 4/3 package with DPP – I think our whole bill with tickets was about $2,500

    Room Sleeps : 4

Don’t Miss: The main pool – Dig Site.

Room Location Suggestion: we were is Casitas, Building 4, Room 441 – it was very close to the bus stop and quiet pool – but about 1/2 way to the Pepper Market and the Dig Site.

The Mouse For Less Tip: Generally we found most merchandise in the parks was also available at the resort gift shop – we have found this to be true at other resorts as well – check out the gift shop on your first night or 2 to see what they have.

Comments: This is a large resort – we had heard mixed reviews about it before we left and were aware of its size – I think it is very manageable if you are able to get a room closer to the Pepper Market and Dig site – we did a lot of walking at the resort….. we also found the transportation to be good (which was another concern of mine) CSR was very centrally located to AK, DHS and Epcot. It was the last of the moderates that we hadn’t stayed at and while I would not hesitate to stay there again – our hearts belong to POFQ.

    Don’t Miss: The lobby LOL.

Room Location Suggestion: We stayed in Casitas 1 and it was a short walk to the food court. My mother is handicapped and we had requested a room near the food court, pool and bus stop. It was only near the food court. The main pool is far from everything! They need another bridge from the opposite direction for that! The bus stop was either in front of the lobby or in front of bldg 4.

The Mouse For less Tip: Free microwave on request (never used ours though…it smelled to high heaven!)

Comments: I will never stay in this resort again. It is too spread out. Our refrigerator didn’t work and ruined my son’s yogurt and milk. I called at 8pm for a replacement and called again at 8:30…they had never put the call in. At 9 they dragged by the cord on the sidewalk! a new refrigerator to our room. I asked for two pillows…they brougt two blankets….when I said I asked for pillows he said they were out?! but he could put the blankets in a pillowcase…no thanks. There were NO hidden Mickeys anywhere in the decor. the inner transport (golf carts) drove like maniacs on the same sidewalk where everyone walked. I almost saw a young boy get his arm torn off while two carts passed each other…scary! The walls were paper thin…I heard the man upstairs urinating! UGH!

She told us a Room Only Discount Code came out for our dates & applied it to our reservation!

    Room Sleeps : 4

Don’t Miss: The Pepper Market Food Court, which I feel is underrated by many. We ate there many times on our trip & both my DH & I felt that the food choices were much more varied & many of them were made fresh as opposed to food courts at some of the other moderates. The Dig Site, which is the pool area including a playground, volleyball court, whirlpool, outdoor bar called Siestas Cantina, arcade & you can get a counter svc. lunch & eat poolside while there. The pool also has a great water slide.

Room Location Suggestion: I’ve posted this before, but I am a real stickler for having a seat on the bus. If this is important to you, ask for a room in Casitas 4. This section is the closest to Bus Stop #2 which the bus goes to first. So you are virtually guaranteed a seat.

The Mouse For less Tip: Not only for this resort, but ordering a case of water, cereal, & snacks from GardenGrocer.com. & of course the Refillable Mugs which can be filled in the Pepper Market & Cafe Rix, the quick service food shop right next to it.

Comments: Though some people don’t like the fact that CSR is a convention hotel, we found it worked to our benefit because many of the convention people are busy working & NOT using the pools, going to the parks, etc. We stayed at CSR twice before, but it was several yrs. ago & we forgot how great this resort is. The theming is wonderful, the resort is in a beautiful setting & is very relaxing. A great escape & wonderful place to return to from a day at the parks.

Don’t Miss: The Dig Site ( the main pool area ) Has a really good slide even adults like it.

Room Location Suggestion: We stayed at Casitas1. It was very close to the main area–registration and food court.

The Mouse For Less Tip: If you have the time and energy take a walk around the resort. We took pictures of the resort in the early morning hours and it was really beautiful. Explore the resort there are little courtyards all over the place that are really special.

Comments: I had read several negative reviews on this resort but I found it delightful. We got the room I requested as I have problems walking up stairs it was on the ground level and close to the main area. It was perfect. There are large golf carts that run between the main area and any where you want to go. really convenient.
