Feb. 7 – 14 2009 was our first time staying at the Board Walk Inn. My entire family adored our week on the concierge level. We wanted comfort and relaxation and that is exactly what we got. Some of the concierge staff (Jackie, Marta, Steve, Edward and {Yolly, our housekeeper}) were friendlier than others but they were all very helpful and efficient.

The beauty of the resort is unmatched, in my opinion, and the attention to detail is what makes it a cut above all other WDW resorts. The tiniest details, right down to the types of bobbles and books they display in the glass cases at the elevators – immaculately clean and dust free while being interesting and fun to browse.

Our room was very clean, the view was serene and quiet (just as we’d hoped for) and the mattresses, sheets, pillows and comforters were luxurious and perfect after a long day.

The location of this resort is ideal for our family. Strolling along the boardwalk to Epcot’s Int’l Gateway entrance was relaxing and fun. Avoiding the bustle of the crowds at the front gate was fabulous!

Arriving back at the Inn Keepers Lounge for desserts and a view of Illuminations was nearly a nightly event for us. We enjoyed the food offerings in the lounge and by eating breakfast and dinner there every day of our 7 night vacation, our family of 5 saved quite a bit of money on food expenses. We feel the extra costs for concierge level was saved by not having to make extra food purchases. I was very impressed with the freshness of the food and the healthy choices offered. We had fresh fruit and vegetables every day. The mid day snacks offered in the lounge were certainly not substantial enough to call a meal but we were rarely even at the resort during lunch time. We would like to see more tables in the lounge for large families. We would sometimes have to sit out in the hall with our food while we waited for a table to clear out.

My biggest complaint is the constant blare of the TV in the Inn Keeper’s Lounge. The news was often on (with crime stories we’d never want our children to hear!). We would often end up requesting that they change the channel. I don’t think it was a good idea to have the news on in a family lounge.

When we arrived at the room, we were afraid that the lack of white noise (such as an a/c unit or the like) would hinder our sleep. A boxed fan was suggested and brought to our room immediately. It worked perfectly. Also, we’d heard that the concierge lounge had a DVD lending library. We requested a DVD player and had it hooked up to the new flat screen TV in mere minutes.

Some people may not be happy with the small size of the balconies but ours was big enough for 2 of the children to sit and all 3 of them to at least be out there at the same time. Having that balcony made the room seem bigger and more spacious.

By the way, we all loved both the main pool and the quiet one. Best slide at WDW !

Overall, we highly recommend the BWI concierge level. I never want to stay anywhere else from now on. This was our families’ 7th WDW trip and it was by far the most relaxing, pleasant, and memorable Disney vacation we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to return to the Board Walk Inn Concierge Level!

    Date Of Stay: October 28 – November 5, 2006

We stayed at the BoardWalk Villas on the other side of the Inn, for a week last October 28-November 5 (2006). I have to say that we had exceptional service, and we loved our room, which was a Lagoon view. In fact, we were one floor above the gift shop right on the BoardWalk promenade, and every single night the juggler would entertain just under our balcony. Our room was directly above the word ‘door’. It was wonderful. We were so tempted to catch those jugglers’ balls, and saucers. The fireworks from EPCOT were awesome.

We had to make amendments to our dining reservations, and the Concierge Desk did so without a hitch. We were very polite, and it went a very long way. In fact, upon mentioning that it was my Husband’s birthday on Hallowe’en, we came back from MNSSHP to find a white chocolate Mickey statue and a autographed photo, as well as a cake with chocolate covered strawberries. It was so nice.

The transportation using the buses was slow, but when we inquired we were told that during Value season, the bus makes more stops because they put fewer buses on the routes. During busier times they actually do put more buses on the routes thus fewer or no stops. I do know what Stacey means though, because we experienced the same situation. The Friendship boats though, were great for us, and we got to MGM and EPCOT within 10 minutes, without a hitch.

I would love to visit the BoardWalk Inn and/or Villas again.

Date Of Stay: September 25-28, 2006

Rate Paid During Your Stay: Unsure – my sister paid for most of it as a b-day present to me! We did the standard “Magic Your Way” Package plus dining.

Room Sleeps : 4 people – 2 queen size beds

Don’t Miss: The pool was great. The location is great – always something going on.

Room Location Suggestion: When we checked in we were originally given a first floor parking lot view. We both looked at the clerk as if he had two heads and asked “Do we look like the kind of people who would like a parking lot view?” It was just my sister and I and so we pulled out all the stops. We got upgraded to a fifth floor water view room. I personally reccommend it.

The Mouse For Less Tip: This is definitely not the place to stay if you don’t want to spend money. There were some great gifts in the gift shop, however, like a box of salt water taffy for under $5.

Comments: Overall, the resort itself is beautiful and I was very thankful to be able to stay there. The transportation to this resort, however, is awful. You would think that with a deluxe resort that you would get better transportation than a value resort, but you don’t. It took us almost an hour to get to Magic Kingdom because of all of the stops. And taking the boat to and from anywhere is no time saver either. We were late for check out due to this. My other comment has to do with the service at the resort itself. We had arrived with all of our dining arrangements made and then needed to change them. The service at the desk was awful where this was concerned. We were treated as if this were a hassle and then told that nothing could be done, but when we arrived at the restaurants and asked, it was no problem. Also, when we were checking out (after the boat problem) we had a very snippy housekeeper tapping her foot at us while we collected our things and asked us “Does management know that your still here?” I found that to be a little rude.

When I got to WDW with my hubby and kids, we go value. That’s our budget and it’s always fun. When I go with my sister, we go deluxe and I truly don’t find the service to be any better.
