When you get in trouble and you don’t know right from wrong
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle! – Jiminy Cricket
We usually stay on-site at Disney World. But this Spring Break, we’re to stay at the Sheraton Vistana Resort. And, we are worried about transportation. We really don’t want to have to get a rental car. Is there any way to stay at that resort since it’s so close to Disney and avoid renting a car? Like, will they offer a free trip, to say Downtown Disney, and then we use Disney’s bus service to get us to parks/Disney resorts? Thanks. (Submitted by Maegen D.)
In researching your resort, they do offer complimentary transportation to and from the Walt Disney World Resort. However, I am always one to caution people against utilizing this kind of transportation. The reason being is that these shuttles are often on a set schedule and don’t always run at the most convenient times. Busses do not typically run like Disney busses do, where you’ll be able to hop on a bus every twenty minutes or so to and from the resort to the parks. You will therefore be a slave to the hotel’s whims. Also, they don’t mention where they drop you off on Disney property, so they could potentially drop you off at the Transportation and Ticket Center hub and then you will have to transfer to whichever park you would like to visit. You may want to contact the resort to see how often they run shuttles and where they drop guests off. However, if that is the only option for you and you do choose this method of transportation, at least you know it is available and does seem to be complimentary.
Also, while your resort is very close to Downtown Disney, I would strongly advise not attempting to take transportation to and from there. The main reason is that transportation does not go directly to and from Downtown Disney to the parks. Instead, you’d have to go to a Disney resort and then transfer to another bus that will take you to the parks. This wastes valuable time and would get extremely old, even if you did attempt it.
I know you don’t really want to, but I would strongly consider renting a car. While there will of course be extra costs associated with the rental car, it will allow you the freedom to come and go as you please. That freedom can be invaluable. Especially when you don’t have to wait on a bus that the hotel provides. (And getting around Disney property is relatively easy; there are helpful signs everywhere.) Plus, you can always find good deals on a rental car by checking out the deals on The Mouse For Less. (Tip: always keep checking on your rental car. They can go down in price even the week before your trip. I’ve even been able to sometimes get cheaper rates the day before my trips. Always keep checking!)
No matter what you decide though, you do appear to have a few options available to you. Have a magical vacation!
