When you get in trouble and you don’t know right from wrong
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle! – Jiminy Cricket

Q.  I was curious, can you tip with your Magic Band for meals? Do they work in restaurants to pay for meals?  (Submitted by B.T.)

A.  Hi B.T.!

So, I can tell you that the Magic Bands are equivalent to the Key to the World card.  This means that these bands will indeed work just like the old room key.  If you decide to charge via your Magic Band, it’s the same as making a room charge with the old keys.  You can charge anything that Disney will allow you to charge by using these bands, including food, tips, souvenirs, etc.  Keep in mind that you will be asked to enter your PIN for any Magic Band charges but this is to verify that the correct room is being charged.  As long as you have set up charging privileges it will then be charged to your room bill and you can settle the account whenever you choose with whatever payment method you like.

I hope that this helps and that you have a wonderful trip!

  1. Thanks! 🙂 I was also wondering about Photopass+. We did buy the cd. Will everyone in our party be able to use their band to add pics to our account if we split up? Or can they collect a traditional Photopass card that I can add to our account later? TIA! 🙂

    • Everyone should be able to use their Magic Bands, even if you split up. I would strongly suggest using your own camera though, to take a photo, just in case. With the hiccups MyMagic+ has been having, I have heard of a few people loosing a few photos taken with Photopass recently. In some cases, they have been recovered, in some cases, they have not. This is more of a precaution for you, just in case.
