Whenever crowds are heavy (like they’ve been this week), remember to stop and smell the roses. There are a ton of people in the parks all running around stressed out beyond belief. Relax on your trip during these peak times of year. Have a plan of a few attractions you would like to hit, but know you aren’t going to see everything. Do things that are different, like spend a day at your resort. When dining, eat at places you wouldn’t normally eat and don’t eat during peak times. Overall, just have a great time! Enjoy the magic!

When going to Epcot for the Holidays, you should look into getting the Candlelight Processional dinner package. This package guarantees you a seat in the theater, plus it will also get you a reserved spot for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. You can reserve either a lunch or dinner package, depending on the show time you would like to experience the Candlelight Processional. This also means you do not have to wait in the Standby line, sometimes for hours, without potentially getting a seat for the show.

Rob got to experience the New Fantasyland before his cruise and says to make sure to stop by Gaston’s Tavern when you are visiting the area. He says the pork shank, the newest items that will be sold at the Tavern is a big hunk of meat that is going to rival the turkey leg and that LeFou’s Brew is quite good, but really sweet. He also says there are tons of great little details which make this place unique and it is apparent that Gaston really does like to use antlers in all of his decorating.

If you are touring the world on New Year’s Eve be prepared for the big crowds. Start by picking the park you want to be in way in advance (Editors Note: Epcot tends to be the best park to visit on extremely crowded days, so this may be where you want to go) and then pick some restaurants to dine in. Make sure to set up your advanced dining reservations. Since it is a very long day having a few sit down meals is great in order to rest for a while. Just don’t wait for the same day to plan your meals because you will not have any luck in finding a seat.

This week, we talk about what we think are the best things to do during the Holidays to get the most bang for your buck at Disney. One suggestion is to visit the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Plus, every few minutes (around 20 or so) the lights start dancing to wonderful holiday tunes. Add the fact that it “snows” while walking in this wonderland and you have an amazing holiday experience.

If you are like most Disney fans, you have your trip planned out to a T. However, Mike suggests sometimes it’s ok to “call an audible” and divert from the best laid plans and try something you’re wanting to do in the moment. It can be as big as changing the park you were going to that day, to skipping a dining reservation (at least one that doesn’t require a credit card number and if you are going to cancel, please let Disney know), to deciding you want to stay at your resort for the evening and relax.

At Disneyland Resort, if you are able to use a magic morning and you want to ride Radiator Spring Racers at Disney’s California Adventure, here is my advice. Split your family and have one member of your party sacrifice and wait in the FASTPASS line until the park opens and FASTPASS is given out. The others can run to wait in line to ride the attraction. Once the park officially opens, have the single family member obtain FASTPASS for the attraction. From Episode 445: The Wonderful World of Fort Wilderness

While the official check in time at Disney resorts is 3:00 pm, it never hurts to try to check in early. On this episode, Wendy and her family arrived at Ft. Wilderness Resort at 11:30 am and were able to officially check in to the resort at that time. (Editor’s note: keep in mind, Wendy was staying at the campgrounds, however this same tip applies to all resorts. You can always check in early (even thought your room might not be ready yet) so it’s always worth it to try. The worst that can happen is that Disney will tell you your room isn’t available yet, but they will usually text or email you to let you know when you can finally get into your room.)

The first thing he noticed, as a person who’s a Walt Disney World veteran, was that the scale of the park just feels a lot smaller and quainter. The layouts of lands are so familiar but are also so incredibly different with some rides we recognize but interspersed with attractions that we’ve never seen before. There are few things worse than getting totally soaked on a ride and having to walk around sloshing (and chafing) until you dry. Instead, buy pocket ponchos (generally $1-$4 depending on the size) at Target, Wal-mart, etc. and keep them in your bag. Put them on for the ride(s) and then dispose of them. They are also good for those every day Florida thunderstorms. The minimal money spent on a supply of these before you go is well worth it. (Submitted by Kris C.)

My tip to would be to plan your parks and dining together. Example: Monday: Hollywood Studios – 50s Prime Time Café. Tuesday: Epcot – Le Cellier, etc. Also, leave “open days” midway through your vacation to play at the resort pool and then go to the Evening Extra Magic Hours park for dinner and to get in a few attractions.
