When you get in trouble and you don’t know right from wrong
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle! – Jiminy Cricket
Q. Of all the DVC resorts at WDW, in your opinion, keeping in mind location, things to do, the pool and great counter service restaurant options, which resort would you recommend? (Submitted by Maegan D.)
A. Hi Maegan!
Of course, your question is a very subjective one. It certainly depends on your tastes, as well as things like which parks you tend to visit more often during your stay.
As far as which DVC resort has the best pool, it would be hard to argue against Beach Club Villas. Stormalong Bay is one of the best pools in all of Walt Disney World property with it’s sandy bottom and it’s amazing slides! It’s is it’s own little water park!
Also, Beach Club Villas gets high marks because of it’s proximity to two theme parks, Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can literally walk to both! While the counter service locations may be lacking, you are super close to Epcot’s International Gateway and all the great food options that World Showcase has to offer. (Plus, three words…Beaches and Cream…sure it’s a sit-down restaurant and you may have to wait a bit because it doesn’t take Advanced Dining Reservations…but trust me, one bite of a delicious cheeseburger and the incomparable No Way Jose…you won’t regret it!)
As far as room size, Old Key West certainly has some of the largest rooms on property. However, may I suggest renting a car if staying here, as it is quite far from most parks. It is certainly one of the more peaceful resorts though.
A nice perk is if your DVC resort is connected to a regular Deluxe hotel. These options tend to have more to offer. For example, Bay Lake Towers, which is connected to the Contemporary. This resort is right on the monorail loop, which gives you easy access to the Magic Kingdom and is a hop, skip, and a jump away from Epcot. Also, the Contemporary has a really great counter service restaurant in Contempo Cafe. (Not to mention quite a few great sit down restaurants too.)
One final nod should be given to Kidani Village, which is connected to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This one has atmosphere in spades! Who doesn’t think it’s awesome to see a giraffe outside their window?! The resort also has a great pool area with lots to do for kids.
So, with all that being said, I probably didn’t help much! But hopefully I did help narrow down the options. Overall, no matter which resort you end up going with, I honestly don’t think you’ll be picking wrong.
I hope you have a magical time!
