When you get in trouble and you don’t know right from wrong
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle! – Jiminy Cricket

Q. My husband, son and I are planning to visit late September 2012 so that we can attend the Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom.  Our thought is to arrive at the park around 4:00 pm. Would we be able to rent an ECV that late in the day? (My husband needs one and I’ve read where they sometimes run out.)  Could we come at park opening, rent a ECV and then leave the park a few hours later and ask that they hold it for our return that evening to go to the party?)  It seems like it would make for a Very long day to arrive at rope drop and stay til the end of the party, so we are trying to decide which is the best thing to do.  Thanks for your help! A.  For those unaware, yes, it is possible to rent ECVs in the parks however they are on a first come, first serve basis.  While good in theory, your option of renting the ECV in the morning and then leaving to come back hoping that Disney will hold the ECV will unfortunately not work.  Once you return your ECV it is then back in inventory, therefore being allowed to be rented again by someone else.

There is good news, though.  First of all, yes you could be able to rent an ECV later in the day.  Since that night is a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party there will be a lot of people who will be leaving the park and returning their vehicles, more than likely allowing you to be able to rent one during the party.

However, there is another option that I think you should consider and that would be renting an ECV from an outside company for your length of stay.  This way you won’t have to worry about returning it in the parks at the end of the night and have to figure out a way to get back to your resort.  There will be no hurry to rent the vehicle on the day of the party and you will also not have to worry that you will not have one for the day.

One suggestion that was mentioned to look into renting from

Whatever you decide to do, I know you’re going to have an absolutely magical vacation!
