One of the first questions visitors to the Disneyland Resort often as is “How do I get there?”. There are four airports in the area. All of them have their own merits and any of them can be a choice when flying in, depending on the airline you choose. Here is a list of your options:
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Located approximately 35 miles from the Disneyland Resort, the Los Angeles International Airport is one of the world’s largest airports, serving over 64.3 million passengers annually with 70 domestic and international airlines.
Orange County Airport (SNA)
Located approximately 12 miles from the Disneyland Resort, the Orange County Airport, known as the John Wayne Airport, is a medium-hub, full-service airport serving over 7.5 million passengers annually with 11 airlines.
Ontario Airport (ONT)
Located approximately 35 miles from the Disneyland Resort, the Ontario Airport is a medium-hub, full-service airport serving over 6.4 million passengers annually with 10 airlines.
Long Beach Airport (LGB)
Located approximately 14 miles from the Disneyland Resort, the Long Beach Airport is a small-hub, with 4 airlines.
Now that you are in the area, how do you get around? There are several options for getting to the Disneyland Resort. These options may vary depending on the airport you choose.
For those who may be traveling in the area or who can’t live without a car, you can rent a car from select companies at any of the airports mentioned above.
The Disneyland Resort and Gray Line have teamed together to create a new service that removes the hassles and headaches of airport transportation. “Disneyland Resort Express” offers hassle-free, convenient, and on-time transportation between the Disneyland Resort and Los Angeles International (LAX) or John Wayne/Orange County (SNA) airports. Disneyland Resort Express, an airport to Resort transfer service only, replaced the airport bus service formerly operated by Coach USA. The new buses feature an easy to identify Disneyland 50th Anniversary look and include video and on-board restroom facilities. Prices are around $28 round trip from LAX and $24 round trip from SNA. Enjoy door-to-door ground transportation via a SuperShuttle seven-passenger van. Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Wheelchair-accessible vans are available on request. Once you get to the resort, your transportation choice will most likely be dictated by your plans in the area. The Disneyland Hotels are all within walking distance of the two parks in the Disneyland Resort. If you are staying in a Good Neighbor Hotel, there will be shuttle service available. Some hotels run their own shuttles, while others are connected to the Resort via a shared shuttle. You may have to pay a nominal fee for the shuttle. Check with your resort for the details of the shuttle options available to you.
Finally, if you are planning to visit any other areas in the Los Angeles area, a rental car may be a good choice. There are many restaurants in the area surrounding the Disneyland Resort. There are also many attractions in the area that are best accessed via personal car. The choice of renting and keeping a rental car throughout your stay depends on your plans for the trip.
