DISNEYLAND NEWS


• Skateboarding pioneer Tony Hawk who headlined the Action Sports Weekend at Downtown Disney’s Main Plaza on Saturday afternoon was injured during a fall. Although Hawk was unable to finish the event, reports are that his injuries were not serious.
~Plus, Tweeted by Tony Hawk Sunday morning: ”Pelvic vertical shear injury” & a hematoma is the semi-official diagnosis. All I know is: I can’t lift my legs & it sucks.

• Disneyland’s Star Tours will close tonight for a ten month refurbishment and open as Star Tours 2.0 on May 20, 2011.  One Disney fan has announced on Twitter that he will spend 16 hours today riding the attraction.  You can follow along on his adventure at:

• Over at “Jungle is 1010″ blog, Mike discusses Disneyland crowd control.

• Orlando Parks News has more info on new enhancements coming to Disneyland hotel, plus news of closures of Hook’s Pointe, the Wine Cellar, Croc’s Bits ‘n’ Bites, Croc’s Bits ‘n’ Bites, the Video Arcade and the Jungle Cruise Remote Control Boats–all expected to close sometime this week because of construction.

• The lounge at Steakhouse 55 is expected to extend its hours to 1:30 am once the Lost Bar at Disneyland Hotel closes.

• A new food truck, Bareclona on the Go has joined Glow Fest at DCA and will offer tapas and Spanish inspired sandwiches.

RUMOR MILL

• Several rumors have been circulating on various Disney boards.  These included rumors that Haunted Mansion may be getting an interactive queue and “it’s a small world’s queue will be reconfigured to exit near Pinocchio’s Village Haus.  But the rumor that seems to be gaining the most credibility is that Pixie Hollow has been scraped as part of the new Fantasyland expansion.

• So, if part of the Fantasyland expansion will be scraped, what will the Magic Kingdom get instead? Could a Frontierland expansion be coming? Or what about the Matterhorn Bobsleds? Read about these rumors on Orlando Parks News.

• Disney has filed paperwork with Orange County for guest room renovations at Port Orleans French Quarter Resort buildings 1-6.
