• Orlando Attraction Magazine is reporting that a Rock N’ Glow Dance Party, with DJ,  will be held in the courtyard of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as part of Summer Nightastic!. The Magic Kingdom will have its own high-energy music with a toe-tapping street party with DJ.

• Several new names have been added to Disney’s Sounds like Summer Concert series playing at the Epcot’s open-air American Gardens Theater from June 12 to July 31.  The most recent additions are “Hotel California,” an Eagles tribute band, and “Beginnings,” a Chicago tribute band. • Great news for Florida Residents.  Epcot has launched a contest just for you.  “Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival Grow Your Garden Instant Win Game & Community Garden Essay Contest” starts 3/8/10 at 12:00 AM, ET and ends 4/30/10 at 11:59:59 PM, ET.  The promotion consists of an on-line “Grow Your Garden” Instant Win Game, and an on-line Community Garden Essay Contest. • The PlayStation Blog says the new PlayStation Pavilion at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex provides the ultimate gaming experience. The evolving line-up of PlayStation titles and exclusives will play on 40″ HD TVs.  The PlayStation Pavilion will also host on-site tournaments and “gamer nights” with high scores posted to leader boards throughout the Complex. The new pavilion is also outfitted with it’s own stage “where you can grab the mic and jam to your favorite tunes.”

• The Disney Parks Blog has made it official, Disney has broken ground on Fantasyland expansion project.  There is really nothing new in the announcement, but if you haven’t seen the gorgeous 3-D table table images of the expansion it’s worth a visit to the blog just for those.  Be sure to click on the images to enlarge them.

• According to The Pixar Blog, visitors to The Magic of Disney Animation attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park can now take in a new exhibit showing off some of the beautiful art created during production on Toy Story 3, as well as the first two Toy Story films.

• Star Tours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close in October 2010 to get a makeover with a new 3D film.  The updated attraction will reopen sometime in 2011.  Disneyland News put out sneak peek of the new Star Tours a while ago.  You can see it on YouTube.

• Effective Sunday March 7, 2010, the price for points at Disney’s Beach Club Villas and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas will increase from $106 per point to $115 per point.  Additionally points at the Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will increase from $101 to $102 per point.  For more info:

DISNEYLAND NEWS

• Sanuk shoe store located in Downtown Disney is set to shut down as early as March 14 when a temporary agreement with Disney ends. While Disney and Sanuk are in talks to find a new location within DTD, nothing has been found yet. The existing Sanuk location was a temporary agreement until Ridemakerz, next store, could begin its expansion into the space. Ridemakerz is also set to close on March 14 to begin construction.  The Sanuk store has become popular with tourists with tired feet who want to keep walking around the parks.

• Disneyland News has uploaded a new video to promote the 2010 Food & Wine Festival at Disney’s California Adventure.  The Festival runs from April 16 to May 31, 2010.

•  The Disney Parks Blog has news of  “Disneyland 1955 – Pin-vited Press Event” on Saturday, July 10, at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  This hard-ticket event will be an opportunity for Guests to pretend like it is the opening day “press event” for the Happiest Place on Earth.  There are 55 unique items created for especially for this event ranging from individual pins to boxed sets to framed sets. Guests who attend the event will have the first opportunity to purchase these items, enjoy a continental breakfast and participate in games and trading activities. • Guess what!  The Universal online brochure has height restrictions listed for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  To ride Dragon Challenge kids will need to be 54″, 36″ is the requirement for Flight of the Hippogriff, and children must be at least 48″ for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.  You can browse the brochure online.

• I just learned this bit of news today from USA Today:  At the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando, guests can choose a wake-up call recorded by Alice Cooper, Brian Johnson of AC/DC, Vince Neal of Motley Crue, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sugar Ray and Nickelback.  Guests at Universal Orlando’s two other on-site hotels – Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort – can get woken up by calls from the Cat in the Hat, Spiderman, Olive Oyl or Betty Boop.

• The March edition of Velvet Sessions will feature Blue Oyster Cult, know for songs like “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” “Shooting Star,” “In Thee” and more. The March 25 concert is part of the monthly Hard Rock Hotel happening that features specialty drinks, finger foods and a lobby concert for $25 (Admission is $30 at the door). • A new musical show based on the Rock Band video games will make a tour stop at Knott’s Berry Farm this summer. The “concert-like” show features live singers performing karaoke-style to songs from Rock Band video games. Prior to each 30-minute performance, theme park visitors will compete on Rock Band drums, guitar or bass game devices — with the top scorer climbing on stage to jam with the singers for the final song of each set.  Look for it in the Boardwalk Ballroom from Aug to 15.

• According to Studios Central forum, Prince Dastan (Prince of Persia) will be appearing for meet ‘n greets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios sometime starting in May and Lotso, the lovable bear from Toy Story 3. will come out to meet ‘n greet this summer.

• “Pinocchio Wishes Upon A Star” by Thomas Kinkade will be released March 2009. The Disney Edition is similar to that of the Standard Numbered Edition, but will only be available at Disney Parks and Resorts.

• The new, state-of-the-art ETX auditorium at AMC Pleasure Island 24 at Downtown Disney will feature “ALICE IN WONDERLAND” in 3D when the movie opens on March 5.  Typically, films shown in the ETX auditorium will cost $2 more than other screens, but word is that “Alice” will cost $4 more to view there.

•  The Disney Store has just released new T-shirts that picture many of our favorite Disney Characters along with the saying “I’m Going to the Disneyland Resort”  or  I’m Going to the “Walt Disney World Resort”.  These T-shirts come just in time for many of you who are planning trips to the parks this Spring and Summer – so pick up your shirt and get ready for your fantastic, fun and memorable journey to Disneyland!

• According to Collider.com, park-goers can expect to see a computer animated Tron TV show sometime in fall 2011 on either ABC or new “boy channel” Disney XD.  Also expect some Tron-themed changes to be implemented at the Disney theme parks. According to BSD, in addition to being flooded with Tron merchandise, Tomorrowland could see some attraction tweaks such as the arcade next to Space Mountain being converted into “Flynn’s Arcade” for example.  Additionally, Walt Disney Imagineering is working on a “Tron experience” that would debut in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland sometime around 2012.
