Introducing the New Disney Dream

Disney Dream

With the construction of their newest ship, the Disney Dream, under way, Disney Cruise Line is literally building a Dream. Today in New York City, Disney Cruise Line held an event that allowed attendees to explore some of the signature elements from the Disney Dream. Two agents from The Magic for Less Travel were on-hand in New York City to attend this momentous Disney Cruise Line event. We are excited to share some of the details with you.

Disney Dream Press Event Highlights
The Disney Dream will join Disney's Fleet in 2011 and the Fantasy in 2012. Chairman of WDW Parks and Resorts, Jay Rasulo, gave the press a peek at what is in store on the Disney Dream that sets sail on 1/26/2011 from Port Canaveral. The new Disney Dream will feature:

  • Virtual Artwork - animation cells, paintings and photographs that spring to life before your eyes and even react differently to passengers’ Key to the World cards.
  • Disney's Oceaneer's Club - where kids will shrink down to size of toys in Andy's Room, interact with Crush, explore Monsters Academy or hangout at Pixie Hollow. It's a Small World nursery for kids 3 months to 3 years.
  • Disney Skyline Bar - take in views of world famous cities that magically change throughout the cruise.
  • Two New Restaurants - dine at Royal Palace, a tribute to Disney Princess stories, & Enchanted Gardens, which will transform with dawns early light to dark starry nights. Plus a re-imagining of Animator's Palette.
  • Virtual Portholes - inside staterooms will have a "window" to the world with a real-time view outside the ship using high-definition cameras. As Guests observe the view, they may glimpse a magical surprise: animated characters like Steamboat Willie may pop by the Virtual Porthole.
  • Entertainment - two showcases at sea, the Walt Disney Theater will feature a new Villians live show and other Broadway-style shows and Buena Vista Theater will feature first class Disney films with digital 3-D technology.
  • First Ever Water Coaster, Aqua Duck - 4-1/2 stories high, 2 football fields long - this high speed thrill ride allows riders to zip through a translucent slide that winds around the top deck and curves over the side of the ship for a jaw-dropping view of the ocean 150 feet below.
  • Vibes Teen Club - features both indoor lounge and outdoor deck with a water recreation area.
  • Evolutions - this club inspired by the butterfly as light pulls you into the main dance area; look for games and activities for children and adults.
